Cate Blanchett to Narrate Journey to the South Pacific

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 11, 2013 – IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX; TSX:IMX) and MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF) today announced that Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett will narrate two-time Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Greg MacGillivray’s (The Living Sea, Dolphins, Everest) upcoming documentary adventure Journey to the South Pacific. The film will be released exclusively in select IMAX® theatres starting Nov. 27, 2013

The Journey Begins Exclusively in Select IMAX® Theatres Starting November 27, 2013

Journey to the South Pacific will take moviegoers on a breathtaking IMAX® 3D adventure to the lush tropical islands of remote West Papua, where life flourishes above and below the sea. Join Jawi, a young island boy, as he takes us on a journey of discovery to this magical place where we encounter whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, and other iconic creatures of the sea.  Home to more than 2,000 species of sea life, this exotic locale features the most diverse marine ecosystem on earth.  An uplifting story of hope and celebration, Journey to the South Pacific highlights the importance of living in balance with the ocean planet we all call home.

The film is the first to be released under the MacGillivray Freeman Films and IMAX Corporation multi-picture pact announced earlier this year.

Blanchett is well known for her starring roles in films including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Elizabeth, and Aviator for which she won an Academy Award. Blanchett is represented by CAA.
